I hope everyone had a lovely break for Christmas – I spent it catching up with cousins I hadn’t seen in years This post essentially marks the end of the year – I’ll have some news on where the trip is headed in the next one.
20/11/2013-21/11/2013 – I was originally planning to split the trip up back down to Cairns over three or so days but things did not go according to plan this time..
14/11/2013 – 15/11/2013 – Another short post – this will cover the run back down from the Cape but won’t be of any great length – it was much the same as the trip up. After heading up to the tip we spent another night at Punsand Bay – riding back in darkness from Pajinka.

Another late post – I was hoping to get this up earlier today but I ended up spending a few hours on the phone trying to diagnose an auto electrical problem. Any who, I promised this post today so it may be getting onwards to midnight but onwards with the show. I didn’t take many photo’s for this section of the trip; I decided to put a video together instead.
I’ve had a few people ask me for an update recently – I just wanted to leave a quick note to say that I haven’t forgotten about the blog, between a brief dose of food poisoning, catching up with relatives and then exceeding my mobile data limit I haven’t been able to put the latest batch of posts up – rest assured as of tomorrow (once my data cap resets) there will be some new content here including another set of pictures and videos
Until then, my apologies for the delay!

Now that we’d made it through the Old Telegraph Track it was a straight forward run through to the top – the Peninsula Development Road after Weipa was in pretty good shape. We paid our ferry fee ($68 return for motorcycles) and headed over the Jardine River.
9/11/2013 – 10/11/2013
Today we left Weipa with a goal of camping at Bramwell Junction before starting onto the Old Telegraph track. There’s another video at the bottom of this post.
We actually split this across two days of riding, but I’ll keep it in one post.

Picking up where I left off – we spent a few days in Cooktown before moving on towards our next destination – Weipa to visit my cousin. Pretty standard affair by now – load up and hit the road. We had decided to take Battlecamp road, which was quite rough and corrugated for the first section but well worth it. Once we made it past the corrugations a steady 100-110km/h was possible on the hardpack dirt sections – a good chance to catch up on listening to some audio books as I could hear them clearly again. I’m working my way through Douglas Adam’s Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy series – I’ve just finished The Restaurant at the End of the Universe and have now started So Long and Thanks for All the Fish. But I digress, onwards with some pictures!

Heading up to Cooktown we decided to take the Bloomfield track – I’ll let the video tell the rest. Bit of a story after the video too – hit continue reading to see it.
